“Corre por Las Joyas”, the race that is run entirely in that polygon, in addition to being a stimulus for boys, girls and youngsters in Las Joyas to get excited about this sport, is a pretext for community organization and for the construction of a pride sense in the inhabitants of the zone that helps to build a community identity and self-worth.
This year, we had close to 700 runners run for Las Joyas. Of these, 50% were young eople under 30, and 150 were between 12 and 17 years old. These last ones enjoyed a scholarship that allowed them to participate paying only $50.00 pesos, with all the same rights of the other runners.
We added more than 270 volunteers!, the vast majority of whom are residents of the Las Joyas area, which strengthens the organizational capacity and social fabric. On the Facebook site: https://www.facebook.com/correporlasjoyas you can see many photogrphic testimonies of this experience.
